FILM CREW EPISODE 12
Did you watch the new Tron: Ares Trailer, tho? +10 Futuristic Sci-Fi Films/Shows
What up film crew!
This week, they dropped the Tron: Ares trailer and… OMG. I’m pretty hyped for it. It seems to have everything you would hope for in a Futuristic Sci-Fi flick plus what seems to be an “alien takeover.”
This weekend’s binge is inspired by Tron: Ares and features movies and TV shows that take place in a futuristic setting.
Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite Futuristic Sci-Fi flicks of all time. It mashes up a neo-noir vibe with an almost post-apocalyptic world, with a pretty grounded story.

Think the Global tariff/trade war on this planet is causing political beef? Well, instead of countries going at it, imagine it being Mars vs. Earth vs. an asteroid belt. It was good enough to hold my attention for 6 seasons!

This is a TV series but each episode stands alone, telling its own story. A star-studded cast brings the works of Philip K. Dick (Author of “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” and considered one of the pioneers of futuristic sci-fi) to life.

Similar to Electric Dreams, this anthology series also brings heavyweights from Hollywood to the small screen. And some of the episodes are incredibly bone-chilling.

Katanas, neon lights, incredible fight sequences, and cliffhanger after cliffhanger? It’s no wonder why Season One of Altered Carbon is my favorite Sci-Fi show of all time, although Season Two (in my opinion) dropped the ball.

If you enjoyed Altered Carbon, Upgrade is a really dope revenge story with incredible fight scenes that take place in the near future.

This sleeper is about a man who sees the dark side of the time-manipulating biotech company he works for when a crushing debt forces his wife to give up 40 years of her own life. Surprisingly good.

Don’t let the fact that it’s animated fool you. This video game-inspired show is actually quite beautiful and boasts an amazing soundtrack.

Men and women live in a giant silo underground with several regulations which they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic and ruined world on the surface. What’s the worst that could happen?

Kinda an obvious choice if the list is inspired by Tron: Ares. Tron: Legacy is a fun watch. Its synth-wave soundtrack and visual FX still hold up (minus that one scene at the beginning with the de-aging CGI)! If you want to have a marathon before Tron: Ares, you can find the original Tron on Disney+, AppleTV, and Prime TV.
